Zhupa accuses Rama and the government: They have been unleashed on social

Democratic MP, Ina Zhupa, today accused Prime Minister Edi Rama and the government of being unleashed on social networks against citizens.

Through a post on social media, Zhupa states that efforts to release several propaganda videos featuring immigrants in support of the government cannot diminish reality.

According to the MP, the method followed of dividing Albanians in order to rule them is a serious attempt to turn citizens against each other.

Zhupa adds that citizens speak with the voice of protest, which, according to her, cannot be replaced by a few videos that ministers publish for political consumption.

Full reaction:

Rama's outburst at the parliamentary group meeting, about why MPs are not defending him enough on social media and are not winning the "war with the algorithm", seems to have had its effect. Today, everyone has been released with videos and statuses of the most diverse kinds, even though there is no algorithm that can save them from the judgment of Albanians, who have already made their assessment.

One of the most mediocre efforts is the publication of several videos of happy emigrants with Rama and against the protest. Meanwhile, the magnificent diaspora protest on June 20 in Tirana, as well as the protests held in major cities around the world, showed the real strength of Albanians wherever they live. They proved that discontent is neither fabricated nor isolated, but a broad civic voice that wants to be heard.

For this very reason, attempts to release propaganda videos featuring immigrants in support of the government fail to diminish the reality. They do not address any of the concerns raised by the protesters and they fail to hide the fact that thousands of Albanians have chosen to stand up in defense of the public interest.

Even more serious is the attempt to pit Albanians against each other, presenting the opinion of a few as a counterweight to the revolt of the many. This is an old method of any government that feels threatened by the citizen voice: divide and rule.

The strength of the 22-day protest, and, in particular, that of June 20, showed exactly the opposite of what propaganda tries to sell: Albanians unite when they feel their rights are violated.

When hundreds of thousands of citizens speak with the voice of protest, no one can replace that reality with a few selected videos for political consumption. The voice of citizens is always stronger than propaganda. /CNA
