The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, received today in a meeting at the blue headquarters, MEP Michael Gahler, coordinator of the Parliamentary Group of the People's Party in the European Parliament.

Full post:

Today I hosted a meeting at the DP headquarters, MEP Michael Gahler, coordinator of the People's Party Parliamentary Group in the European Parliament.

During the meeting, which was characterized by an open spirit and understanding, I expressed to the European High Representative the opposition's concerns about the "Balluku affair" and Aksh, Edi Rama's efforts to intervene in legislation with the aim of creating a shield for his direct corruption and that of his ministers.

I emphasized that the legal amendments aimed at by Rama harm not only the fight against corruption, but also the European integration process. The opposition unconditionally supports the EU integration process, but demands that this process be inclusive, based on merit, and not used for propaganda purposes by the government.

I also provided an overview of the AKSHI scandal and the direct involvement of the Prime Minister and his family in this serious affair, which for Albania surpasses the Epstein affair not only as a corrupt act, but also because it affects a fundamental part of the state superstructure, including cybersecurity.

Together with Gahler, we also discussed the recent elections in Albania, and I expressed my satisfaction with the fact that an observation mission was sent by the European Parliament, and the MEP was part of it and was able to see for himself the serious violations highlighted in the OSCE report, as well as 7 international resolutions that have openly condemned the manipulated Albanian elections. Edi Rama's connections with the drug cartels were also issues that were widely discussed. /CNA
