The Chairman of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, David McAllister, in a statement to the media, stated that they will continue to support Albania on its path towards the EU.

McAllister said that the opening of all negotiation chapters is a great achievement. McAllister further stated that the EP is concerned about political polarization and suggested more stability and political dialogue in the country.

Focusing on the protests, the head of the EP Foreign Affairs Committee said that violent protests have no place in a functioning democracy.

" We continue to strongly support Albania on its path to European integration and recognize the strong results, evidenced by the opening of all negotiation chapters as a strong achievement. We are concerned about political polarization. There needs to be more stability and political dialogue in the country. The majority needs to create space for the opposition and the opposition needs to be more cooperative. Violent protests have no place in a functioning democracy ," McAllister said./CNA
