"He wanted to burn the mandates of the deputies"/ Bylykbashi tells the

Democratic Party MP, Oerd Bylykbashi, shared today a little bit from the conversation he had in January 2019 with the then leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha.

Bylykbashi said in a television studio that Basha wanted to burn the mandates of Democratic MPs, something for which he had received objections.  

Bylykbashi said that the only drawback behind this communication is that he did not reiterate his stance against this mechanism that was intended to function with mathematical precision.

"I have only one pledge to this day. After I had told the party chairman in January 2019, Lulzim Basha, when he said he would burn the mandates. I told him 'No, you will not burn them, because the parliament will be full'. As it turned out, this is an article that I and two of my respected colleagues wrote; we wrote it specifically against the burning of mandates by the Socialist Party. So, we knew with mathematical precision that the mechanism would work. We had done it intentionally in such a way that, when someone left, the second part of the list would fill the place to a sufficient extent, so that the effect of burning the mandates would be nullified. We did it for the Socialist Party, because they were constantly taking risks and saying 'we will burn the mandates'. The system stood and worked, then it was clear that it would work with us too. My pledge is that, when we held the meeting the day after Basha publicly declared this, I did not say it before other colleagues. Even though everyone knew it, I did not repeat it in that meeting. Therefore, I will always defend these kinds of positions with force”, said Bylykbashi./ CNA
