Protests in the country/ MP: I put my mandate at service

Agrarian Environmentalist Party MP Artan Luku has reacted on social media regarding the protests of recent days.

Luku writes that Parliament behaves as if the protesters are the enemies of the country.

Further in his reaction, Luku writes that he places his mandate at the service of any initiative that strengthens democracy and restores citizens' right to decide, including by ranking priorities.

 

" For 31 days, citizens have been protesting and demanding to be heard, while Parliament continues to behave as if they are the enemies of the country. This institutional behavior is unjustifiable in a representative democracy, where the constitutional and representative obligation is to listen, respond and address the demands of citizens!"

Parliament cannot be indifferent to a protest that has been going on for more than a month.

Protest is not a threat to democracy, ignoring it is a threat!

As a member of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, I put my mandate at the service of any initiative that strengthens democracy and restores to citizens the right to decide directly on issues of national importance. Reforming the Law on Referendums according to the most advanced European models, including the Swiss model.

"Constitutional changes for a National Proportional system with open lists while maintaining representation with 140 deputies ," writes Luku.
