Hazardous waste in the country/ Muçollari: Censorship to hide political

Democrat Grigels Muçollari commented today on the situation created in the country with hazardous waste.

Invited to "Syri TV", Muçollari stated that responsibility for this problem passes through all links of state control, starting from ports and customs.

According to him, the censorship of institutions so far regarding the issue has been done to hide the political and criminal responsibility of officials.

"Now we are dealing with international trafficking of hazardous waste. Which means that it is condemned by many international conventions and always makes the Albanian government responsible in one way or another. Which means that the guarantor that should guarantee that international trafficking of hazardous waste should not occur is the government. So there are violations of several conventions and I do not know if there will be further steps from international institutions, but also from the member states that are part of the conventions, which are mainly the countries of the European Union. This is where the event begins. Which means that the crime was very big, the act that had occurred and let's assume in knowledge or in ignorance. In both cases, ignorance is even more difficult than in knowledge, because in knowledge, if you know a case, you control the territory. Ignorance makes the situation more difficult, which means you do not control anything in the territory. It was an event that I denounced at the beginning of the day, reading a news from the Basel network.

I noticed at that time that there was a strong attempt to censor myself, as often as not, that is, without mentioning the televisions, but it happened that they had difficulty calling me, since the issue and I noticed that the government was very sensitive about not mentioning this issue. And among all the documentation, it was understood that Minister Kumbaro, at that time the Minister of the Environment, had a direct responsibility. And without a doubt, this responsibility extended afterwards and to all the levels where they were affected, starting with the port, customs and all that. So in this aspect, there was an attempt to hide the event, there was an attempt to treat it as if those wastes were not dangerous. There was also an attempt to make it ridiculous by bringing in representatives who said that nothing happens from those wastes. To our good and bad luck at the same time, international organizations and the Basel network insisted a lot that the law be implemented and then we were forced to wait for them to arrive.

Which means it took two or three months to return and after they arrived, it took a year and a half for the prosecution to investigate and come to conclusions. While it didn't take more than a week, a toxic analysis of the waste and then to make decisions. And what happens? It was what we warned time and time again and we were convinced would happen here. From the moment the Durrës prosecution took the case under review, it meant that it could not examine ministers, the guilt of ministers, the guilt of political people, MPs or ministers. Which means that at that moment it was predetermined until when it would be tried. And today it ended in investigations, leading to the indictment of dozens of people, who are specialists and at most a mid-level director. And of course businessmen in the field. Which means that in these conditions, to hide the political responsibility and criminal responsibility of the executive mandates, of the two ministers, that unfortunately for us, here things are happening, let's say that moral, political responsibility and responsibility towards voters have been lost, because we are talking about a scandal that has been happening for a year and a half. And these are the same people that we have decided to educate our children about the environment of the time, of the 2800 tons of hazardous waste, today proven to be hazardous. The other gentleman, where two, 108 containers passed through the port and he was the port director, we promoted to office. We say to him, "You will protect the entire territory of the country. You will protect our homeland", - Muçollari expressed./ CNA
