Peleshi at the Washington Security Forum: Albania stands by the US, committed to

Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi emphasized today at the Security Forum in Washington that Albania remains by the side of the United States of America in the fight to shape global security.

In his speech before the US Congress, Peleshi stated that the country, but also the Western Balkans as a whole, are geopolitically sensitive and exposed to attempts that threaten this security, to which he said Albania remains committed.

"I would like to express my respect for the continued support of Congress in shaping global security, protecting democratic values, and strengthening the transatlantic alliance. I take this opportunity to inform you that on the day that President Trump and leaders announced the Peace Board in Davos, the Albanian Parliament ratified the agreement to reaffirm our commitment to stability, security, conflict resolution, and sustainable peace. We are at a moment of fundamental geopolitical transformation. The return of large-scale war, and especially Ukraine-Russia, coincides with the search for threat, cyberattacks and disinformation, foreign interference, terrorism, and crime. The Western Balkans remain geopolitically sensitive, exposed to external attempts to preserve internal stability, democratic institutions, and trust in the transatlantic alliance on this journey," Peleshi said./CNA
