People's Advocate Competition/ Saimir Vishaj: My vision is to serve

Lawyer Saimir Vishaj shared today his vision for the Ombudsman race.

In his speech to the Committee on Legal Affairs, Vishaj stated that he aims to be the best and most responsive defender of rights and freedoms, in implementing laws and the Constitution.

Vishaj also emphasized the mission of this task, which, if elected, he pledged to perform in the service of citizens and the law.

"The Ombudsman is the highest institution for the protection of citizens. In a reality where citizens often face indifference, the vision is to create a responsive advocacy, which places the citizen at the center of public action. My mission is based on Article 60 of the Constitution, where the Ombudsman is independent, respecting human rights and freedoms. Based on Article 60, point 2, he is not subject to any order. Establishing an emergency line for citizens in difficulty is an immediate need. Monitoring the execution of criminal measures, fighting against administrative inaction, reviewing delayed requests, disciplinary responsibility of public officials is necessary. As a guarantor of the rule of law, special reports should be prepared in several areas and monitoring the implementation of judicial decisions, in cooperation with ministries and the Parliament. I will work for a Ombudsman with dignity and in service of the people", - said Vishaj. /CNA
