Reasons why citizens should protest on December 22

DP MP Belind Këlliçi held a meeting with residents and small businesses in the Don Bosko area where he listed the reasons why citizens should come out to Monday's protest.

According to Këlliç, citizens should protest for economic reasons, for family safety, for dignity, for freedom, for democracy, for free voting.  

"With the residents and small businesses of the Don Bosko area, in Unit no. 9, Tirana. The reasons why citizens should come out to Monday's protest are endless:

For economic reasons.

Your and your family's economy is increasingly burdened by uncontrolled inflation, stagnant wages, and ridiculous social assistance. At the same time that the government is immersed in luxury, it allows itself to abuse 190 million euros on the Llogara tunnel alone.

For your safety and that of your family.

Euro-American reports and media openly say what everyone else silently admits: crime has access to the highest levels of power and has gotten out of control, endangering the lives and property of citizens.

For reasons of dignity.

No functional society can rise above normalized theft. At a time when the ordinary citizen is persecuted and criminalized for the most banal issues, the clique close to the prime minister is forcibly protected from the shackles of justice and law.

For freedom.

Terror against the administration, the capture of the media, and civil society aim to silence, brainwash, and suppress free conscience. Is neo-dictatorship the legacy we want to leave to generations?

For democracy.

All of the above is summarized in democratic institutions: accountability, separation of powers, parliamentarism.

Free vote.
