Democratic Party Leader Sali Berisha is in the city of Kavaja this Thursday, where the official ceremony is taking place as part of the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Party of Kavaja.

In his speech, Berisha emphasized the heroic act of many Kavaja citizens, who faced the communist regime in the harshest way.

Berisha also focused on the historical events of the time and the well-known names who gave their lives for democracy.

"Kavaja is the symbol of free people, who believe in the highest divine and human values. They believe in freedom, God and Albania. We gather on the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Kavaja branch of the Democratic Party. It was formally founded on December 17, 1990, but the truth is that it was the sacrifice, bravery and manliness of the Kavaja citizens that inspired the student movement. The Democratic Party, just as it was founded in the Student City, was also founded in the city of Kavaja. In the great uprising of Kavaja, Josif Buda remained a martyr. The confrontation with the regime rises to the level of a legend. With their battle, they liberated Kavaja, the first free city and inspired Albanians in the four corners of the country.
