By Andi BUSHATI/ Why did Blendi eat Çuçi?In the trajectory of a governing majority, the dismissal of an interior minister and the resignation of a deputy within the same day are among those events that mark the entire four-year mandate. Such should have been the departure of Blendi Çuc and the expulsion of Rahman Raja from the parliament. They could be considered as the immediate reaction of a state with panties on its legs, whose face we saw desecrated through the video with baseball bats, of one of the most politically powerful gangs of Fushë Kruja.

The head of government would not be able to overcome the nervousness and revolt that those images evoked. It was unacceptable to his ego that they received public attention, while he played the preferred role of the Balkan negotiator, touring five capitals of the region in two days.

There is more. The brutal and politically motivated way in which the state police handled this event left an even worse feeling than the wild video, where the cries of "kill, kill" were heard.

As reported in dozens of news stories, the blue uniforms were found to be powerless against the local thugs in renaissance costume. They could neither react without an order from above, nor could they handcuff, on the spot, the protagonists of that equal episode.

So, at first glance, no government that, even for the face, continues to claim that it is a creature of a democratic order, could not stay without reacting. In the morning, former minister Çuçi announced the almost dissolution of the police station of Fushë Kruja. Then came the forced surrender of the mandate by Rrahamn Raja with the ridiculous reason that "he had failed as a parent". In the end, the dismissal of the interior minister also followed.

But no matter how strong this reaction seems, no matter how much this Saturday in July leaves in Edi Rama's third mandate, it is neither a sign of repentance nor a signal of reflection. The rajas got so far that they had the personal protection of Edi Rama. The event seven years ago is still fresh in everyone's memory, when the deputy's son, who we now saw with a baseball bat in his hand, massacred his 25-year-old girlfriend, Xisiela Maloku. Then the government plunged headlong into saving the aggressors. They threatened the police officer who was investigating the incident. Even when Emilijanio Nuhu left office and fled to Switzerland, scared by the high officials who blackmailed him, instead of reflecting, Edi Rama personally attacked him as a liar who would be found wherever he was.

He had the opportunity to react even later, so that at least he no longer nominated Rrahman Raja for deputy. But he did not hesitate to include him in the renaissance team both in the 2017 and 2021 elections, although the name of the same local gang was made public for cocaine trafficking, robbery or wounding of a former prosecutor.

Rama wanted the votes of crime more than justice and therefore the Rajas became untouchable. The events that the public saw in voice and image were a symbol of the rule over the law of local delinquents who feel all-powerful, since once every four years they contribute to keeping the same man at the top of the power.

Therefore, no matter how strong today's movements seem, getting rid of the deputy and the departure of Blendi Çuçi, they do not show anything. No minister of order or police chief has the strength to do his duty if he is in that position as a result of votes collected by crime. The policemen of Fushë Kruja did not sit passively because of the lawsuit, but they knew how their colleague Emiljano Nuhu had suffered. Their failure is not the result of impiety, but of the fact that the fish stinks from the head.

In this sense, Blendi Çuçi is eating it in vain. With his departure, nothing will change or improve. Not even those before him had the strength to punish the thugs who secure votes for the organization, but those after him will follow the same line. And to understand how true this is, it is enough to understand a simple episode. The new proposal to replace Çuçi is the man who went to the police station to put pressure on the former policeman Emiliano Nuhu, to protect the son and grandson of MP Rahja. And so history repeats itself, Rama changes the servants, but the country is governed by the same criminal mindset./ Pencil
