The human resources director of a US technology company, who was caught on a big screen at a Coldplay concert hugging the company's CEO, has resigned.

Kristin Cabot no longer works for Astronomer, the firm told the BBC in a statement. Her departure follows that of Andy Byron, the company's former chief executive, who left last week after the firm announced he would be placed on leave and investigated. The BBC has not been able to independently confirm the identities of any of the people in the clip.

It shows a man and a woman, identified by US media as work colleagues, embracing on a giant screen in the arena before suddenly bending over and hiding.

After seeing the couple suddenly trying to hide from the camera, Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin told the crowd: "Either they're having an affair, or they're just really shy."

The video, which showed the couple swaying to the music at the concert before trying to hide, garnered millions of views on social media. It was later shared across platforms, turned into a meme and mocked on television programs.

As internet detectives attempted to identify the pair and false statements emerged about the incident, Astronomer issued a statement announcing an investigation into the matter, without specifying the video, and said its executive director would be fired.

The next day, the company announced that Byron had resigned. The company, which deals with data, analytics and artificial intelligence, announced that co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy had been named interim CEO.

“The events of the past few days have received a level of media attention that few companies — let alone startups in our little corner of the data and artificial intelligence world — ever encounter,” Mr. DeJoy said in an update after taking the reins.

He noted that the company became a "recognizable" name almost overnight and would continue its path forward and "commitment to building something great."
