Vera Zheji, the actress and symbolic voice of Radio Tirana, has passed away

Albanian film and theater actress, Vera Zheji, one of the symbolic voices of Radio Tirana, has passed away at the age of 91.

The sad news was announced by her daughter, Lea, yesterday. Vera Zheji died in the early hours of Saturday.

"My mother, Vera Zheji, left this world. She spent a few difficult weeks, she left her home and her family quietly today at dawn. On her behalf, I thank all the many friends and well-wishers who have followed her, supported and respected through the years, which she remembered with love and gratitude. This is life! May God help us all to end the time we have left in this world!", she announces.

Vera Zheji is known as an announcer and host of many shows on Radio Tirana.

From the age of 15, in February 1948, Vera Zheji was engaged in Radio Tirana by reading literary shows. Very soon, she became one of the most popular and well-known voices in all of Albania.

Zheji worked for 27 years at Radio Tirana. In 1975, he was transferred to the Academy of Arts, as a teacher of Artistic Speech, a position he held until his retirement.

Vera Zheji is remembered as Sandra, the wife of Thoma Çakshiri (Robert Ndrenika) in "Rain on the Beach", the mother-in-law of Sami (Viktor Zhusti) in "The Literature Teacher", or in episodic roles in "And it comes one day", "Family my", etc./ CNA
