Theft at 9-year-old school in Lezha revealed/ One person in handcuffs, 5 minors

The police have solved the theft that occurred four days ago at the 9-year-old school in the city of Lezha. It is reported that 6 citizens have been identified who entered the school premises after midnight, stole 19 pieces of equipment and damaged the school doors.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, while 5 minors have been criminally prosecuted.

The perpetrators stole 16 laptops, 2 video projectors and the central server of the security cameras, and then transported them in the 22-year-old's vehicle and hid them in his apartment and in the basement of a building under construction.

As material evidence, 16 of the stolen devices and the arrested person's vehicle were seized.

Police notification

Lezhë/The operation codenamed "Equipment" is finalized. The perpetrators and circumstances of the theft discovered 4 days ago at the "Besëlidhja" school are revealed.

The 6 citizens who entered the school premises after midnight, stole 19 pieces of equipment and damaged the school doors have been identified.

5 of them, minor citizens, were criminally prosecuted, while the co-perpetrator, 22 years old, was put in handcuffs.

16 of the stolen devices (laptops, video projectors and a server) were found hidden in a building under construction and in the arrested person's apartment.

As a result of professional investigative actions carried out immediately after the notification, on the afternoon of 15.03.2026, that 16 laptops, 2 video projectors and the central security camera server had been stolen from the 9-year school "Besëlidhja", Lezhë, and that the doors of the building had been damaged, the services of the Lezhë Police Commissariat enabled the arrest of the perpetrators and the clarification of the circumstances of the case.

Subsequently, as part of the operation codenamed "Equipment", citizen AB, 22 years old, was arrested, and 5 minors aged 15-17 (3 of them, students at this school) were criminally prosecuted, who are suspected of having been incited by the 22-year-old to commit this crime.

The 6 citizens are suspected of having entered the premises of the "Besëlidhja" school at around 01:00 on 14.03.2026, damaged the doors of the building, and stole 16 laptops, 2 video projectors and the central server of the security cameras.

Then, the 6 citizens transported the equipment, in the vehicle of the arrested person, and hid them, in the basement of a building currently under construction and in the apartment of the 22-year-old. 16 of the stolen equipment were found and seized as material evidence, along with the “Volkswagen” type vehicle, in which they were transported.

The procedural materials were referred to the Lezha Prosecutor's Office for further action. /CNA
