Police take stock for March/ 96 operations, 527 arrests and over 50 kg of

State Police structures have shared data on police activity during the month of March 2026.

Based on official data, in this period:

-96 operations have been finalized, 21 of which were for the localization, capture and/or extradition of internationally wanted citizens;

-527 citizens accused of various criminal offenses have been arrested;

-32 firearms, TNT and combat ammunition were seized and 3 criminal groups for firearms trafficking were busted;

-in the field of narcotics, over 50 kg of Cannabis Sativa, hundreds of doses of Cocaine and Heroin have been seized;

-Also, around 1.2 million euros in assets and money with suspected criminal sources, 7 vehicles trafficked into Albania, as well as floating vehicles, binoculars, masks and police radios have been seized;

-8 premises (6 closed and 2 greenhouses) were discovered in Shkodra, Peqin and Shijak, where narcotic plants were cultivated. In these cases, a considerable number of narcotic seedlings and plants, as well as the equipment that helped in their cultivation in closed premises, were destroyed;

-18 criminal incidents have been solved, which include:

murder/injury with cutting tools, threats with firearms against police officers, burning of vehicles/land surfaces, accidents with consequences and theft;

-criminal events have been prevented in 17 cases, which include:

the detention of citizens who were moving armed in 8 cases, escalation of physical and/or armed conflicts, as well as attempted theft;

-10 cases have been investigated by the structures for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes, which include smuggling of goods (medicines, oil, clothing and equipment), forgery of documents, illegal employment, informality and fraud by unjustly acquiring state titles;

-13 operations to solve thefts/armed robberies have been finalized;

-6 operations against the transportation of immigrants who intend to go illegally to EU countries have been finalized;

-4 operations have been finalized to crack down on exploitation for prostitution, practicing prostitution and maintaining premises for this illegal activity;

-7 premises were discovered where, in violation of the law, games of chance were played using cell phones, computers and slot machines;

During the month of March:

-197 drivers were arrested, of which 135 for drunk driving and 62 for driving without a license;

-216 driving licenses were suspended for exceeding speed limits, driving under the influence of alcohol or other violations of the Highway Code, for which this measure is provided;

-93,011 administrative measures were imposed for various violations of the Road Code, of which 3,934 administrative measures for speeding above the allowed rate, with the sanction of suspension of the driving license. In these cases, vehicle drivers paid double the maximum administrative measure and were penalized with a deduction of 6 to 12 points from their driving license.

Durrës Traffic Police cracked down on 2 more cases of attempted bribery of officers to avoid punishment for violations committed and 3 cases of driving under the influence of narcotics.

At border crossing points, as a result of detailed controls and risk analyses, Police services identified and cracked down during March:

-18 cases of attempted border crossings with false documents,

-8 cases of trafficking and 2 cases of theft.
