Internationally wanted for drug trafficking/ 55-year-old arrested in Rinas

A 55-year-old man who was declared an international wanted person has been detained in Rinas. AL, sentenced to 7 years in prison by the Florence Court of Appeal for drug trafficking, attempted to enter the territory of Albania.

The arrested person, in collaboration with other persons, trafficked narcotics from the Netherlands to Italy.

The 55-year-old was detained after attempting to enter the Republic of Albania while being sought by authorities in Florence.

The detainee was sentenced by the Court of Appeal in Florence to 7 years in prison for drug trafficking.

As a result of the checks carried out at the entry/exit of the Republic of Albania, with the objective of cracking down on illegalities at the border and detaining wanted citizens, the Rinas Border Police services provisionally arrested, at the entrance to the country, the citizen Agron Lamaj alias Aglon Lamaj, 55 years old.

He was internationally wanted because the Florence Court of Appeal, in 2024, sentenced him to 7 years in prison for drug trafficking.

In 2007, this citizen, in collaboration with other citizens, trafficked narcotics from the Netherlands to Italy.

Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with Interpol Rome, are working to finalize the procedure for the extradition of the 55-year-old to Italy.
