Drug cultivation in Shkodra/ 2 arrested, 6 village heads prosecuted

Anti-narcotics controls in Shkodra in the territories of the 6 administrative units of this region ended with the destruction of 1,723 suspected narcotic Cannabis Sativa plants.

Also, 2 citizens (father and son), suspected of cultivating 165 narcotic plants, were arrested and handcuffed in the village of Vukpalaj.

As a result of the action, criminal proceedings were initiated against 6 village heads for the criminal offense of "Abuse of office".

Police Announcement:

The services of the Shkodra Local Police Directorate and the subordinate police stations, in cooperation with the Shkodra Public Security Unit, continue intensive checks throughout the territory of the district, following the police operation codenamed "Coordinates", with the aim of cracking down on cases of cultivation of narcotic plants. As a result of the checks:

-in the territories of the administrative units Shosh, Pult, Postribë and Shalë, the services of the Shkodër Police Commissariat found and destroyed 1060 suspected narcotic plants Cannabis Sativa. Following the procedural actions, the materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office where the proceedings were initiated in a free state for the criminal offense "Abuse of office", for the mayor of the village of Plan, citizen N. Sh.; for the mayor of the village of Kir, citizen DV; for the mayor of the village of Palaj, citizen KK; for the mayor of the village of Pecaj, citizen DV; for the mayor of the village of Nenmavriq, citizen LL; for the mayor of the village of Gimaj, citizen P. Sh..

-in the territory of the administrative unit of Kastrat, the services of the Malësi e Madhe Police Commissariat found and destroyed 521 suspected narcotic plants of Cannabis Sativa. Following the actions, citizens PD, 64 years old, and BD, 32 years old (father and son), residents of the village of Hot, were arrested, as they are suspected of having cultivated 165 narcotic plants that were found in the village of Vukpalaj, in an open environment, bordering the land they were using;

-in the territory of the Temal administrative unit, the services of the Vau i Dejës Police Commissariat found and destroyed 142 suspected narcotic cannabis sativa plants.

Work continues to identify, capture and hold accountable the perpetrators of the cultivation of narcotic plants.
