Weapons were sold to criminal groups/ Police action in the Murriz Tunnel

The police conducted an operation codenamed Tunnel where one person, 22-year-old citizen AD, was arrested.

During the operation, in the Murriz tunnel, the Police services stopped the vehicle driven by the 22-year-old, in which, during the search, they found 2 Kalashnikov firearms and 4 rifle magazines hidden in the trunk.

Investigations suspect that this citizen was transporting the weapons to Tirana to sell them on behalf of criminal groups. Investigations are ongoing to document this criminal activity, identify and apprehend other citizens who may have been involved.

"The police operation codenamed "Tunnel" is being finalized by Police Commissariat No. 4. A 22-year-old man was arrested after being caught red-handed transporting 2 Kalashnikov firearms from Burrel to Tirana to sell them on behalf of criminal groups. The 2 firearms, 4 combs for them, the 22-year-old's vehicle and mobile phone were seized.

The services of the Police Commissariat No. 4 have received information that a citizen was circulating with a firearm in a vehicle. As a result of the rapid administration of this information, the coded operation "Tunnel" was organized and finalized, during which the citizen: AD, 22 years old, resident of Burrel, was arrested.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office, for the criminal offense "Unlicensed possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition", the police announced./ CNA
