Abandoned van in Leposaviq/ Around 800 thousand smuggled cigarettes worth around

Police units of the Border Department, the Rapid Intervention Unit of the Kosovo Police, in the course of activities to combat illegal cross-border activities, have prevented a case of smuggling of goods.

Patrol teams of the Rapid Intervention Unit-North, in the process of implementing a tactical-operative plan, based on information received, on 25.08.2025 in the village of Cerajë-KK Leposavi?, encountered an abandoned VË Transporter van, white in color, with RKS license plates, filled with cigarettes of various types, without banners, which are suspected of being smuggled from the territory of Serbia to the Republic of Kosovo.

The total value of the goods is estimated to be a total of 797,000 cigarettes, with an approximate value of eighty thousand (80,000) euros.

With the authorization of the State Prosecutor, the vehicle and the smuggled cigarettes were sent to the customs terminal for further processing by the relevant KP units and Kosovo Customs. /CNA
