Israel "softens up"/ Decides to "help" Gaza

The situation in Gaza is getting worse and worse because of the fighting between Israel and Hamas.

Gaza has long been short of fuel, while occasional humanitarian aid has been allowed.

Israel agreed to allow a "minimal" amount of additional fuel into Gaza "to prevent a humanitarian collapse and the outbreak of epidemics" in the south of the territory.

In a statement, the Israeli prime minister's office says the amount of fuel will be decided by the cabinet, based on the humanitarian situation.

The UN has repeatedly raised the alarm that the war could increase epidemics in Gaza.

On the other hand, the Hamas-run Ministry of Health says that 800,000 people have been left without access to health services in northern Gaza./ CNA
