VIDEO/ The impressive eruption of Etna, lava and ash in the snow

The eruption of Etna in recent weeks is leaving images of extraordinary beauty. This volcano, one of the symbols of Sicily, appears these days covered with snow and, at the same time, releasing lava and ash. The southeast crater is proving particularly active.

Mount Etna, at 3,300 meters high, is the largest active volcano in Europe and usually has frequent eruptions, known for at least 2,700 years. 

It erupted 10 days ago and has sent lava and ash more than 4.5 kilometers into the sky over Sicily.

Likewise, Etna covers an area of ??1,190 square kilometers, with a basal circumference of 140 kilometers.

Eruptions usually occur in the Northeast Crater, Voragine, Bocca Nuova, or Southeast Crater.

The most devastating eruption occurred between March and July 1669 when it destroyed the village of Nicolosi./ CNA
