More than half of Europeans say their budget has tightened over the past three years, according to a recent survey.
Rising prices have pushed almost a third of Europeans into a "precarious" financial situation.
The second European Barometer on Poverty and Insecurity examined the ability of Europeans to shop and found that it has fallen over the past three years, forcing a majority of them to skip meals.
Of the 10,000 surveyed by Ipsos for the French Secours Populaire, 29% said their financial situation was "uncertain" and any unexpected expenses would cause their balance to break, reports Euronews .
Almost one in two Europeans think they face a high risk of falling into a precarious situation in the coming months, subject to relatively stagnant price growth and wages. The at-risk-of-poverty rate in 2021 for the total EU population was 17%, according to Eurostat.
Of the people surveyed, 38% say they are no longer able to eat three meals a day regularly, while only 42% said they have never skipped breakfast, lunch and dinner due to financial constraints. /CNA
