Kim Jong-Un's daughter may have been appointed as leader of North Korea

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has officially named his daughter as heir to the throne, but there is currently more speculation than confirmed facts.

South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) told lawmakers that Kim Jong-Un's daughter, identified as Kim Ju-ae, has entered the so-called "internal" stage and been designated as heir apparent.

This designation suggests a first process of establishing her as successor, but without any official confirmation of an appointment or public title.

Reports in foreign media have fueled much speculation that this means the girl has been directly elected as the country's next leader, but much of this news has gone beyond what the NIS has said as it is not yet a finding based on documents or an official communication from Pyongyang. /CNA
