Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is testifying behind closed doors today before the House Oversight Committee, as part of the investigation into sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In her statement, Clinton called for President Donald Trump to also testify before the committee on the Epstein case. In addition to Trump, she also called for current Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Attorney General Pam Bondi to be questioned.

"Prosecutors in Florida and New York should also be asked why they gave Epstein a plea deal and why they didn't go after others who may have been involved," Clinton said, a reference to comments made by tech billionaire Elon Musk in a 2012 email to Epstein, released in the filing, according to the BBC.

Thursday's testimony in Chappaqua, New York, is part of a political battle between the Clintons and Republicans, who insist that former Secretary Clinton's testimony is key to the investigation, while Democrats view the focus on her and her husband, Bill Clinton, as a political maneuver.

Clinton has stated that she has never met Epstein in person and has only interacted a few times with his former associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, emphasizing that she and her husband have agreed to cooperate fairly and transparently. /CNA
