The torrential rains in many areas have created dramatic conditions. Flooded villages are cut off from the world around them. Three people lost their lives during landslides caused by rain in several areas in the northeast of Slovenia, the police announced.

A highway was blocked due to flooding, bridges and houses were destroyed. In about 16,000 houses, the power was cut off. "Some areas are completely cut off from the surrounding world and traffic is difficult," the civil defense noted.

Flooding has been reported in the south of Austria. In the states of Carinthia and Steiermark, residents were urged to leave their homes if possible. In the areas around Eisenkappel and Klagenfurt several villages have been isolated by the floods. Hardly affected is the Voelkermarkt region in Kernten.
