Poland proposes to deploy Patriot missiles near the border with Ukraine

Poland will propose deploying additional Patriot missiles near its border with Ukraine, following an offer from Germany, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on Twitter on Monday.

"During today's conversation with the German side, I will propose that the system be placed on the border with Ukraine," he wrote on Twitter.

Germany has offered Warsaw the Patriot missile defense system to help it secure its airspace after a missile was shot down in Poland last week, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said on Sunday.

"The missile that hit Poland, killing two people, appears to have been fired by Ukrainian air defenses and not a Russian attack, " NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said, allaying initial concerns that the attack could spark a conflict across the country's borders. Ukraine.
