After Israeli attack on Hamas negotiators, Trump signs executive order on Qatar security

United States President Donald Trump has signed an executive order guaranteeing the security and territorial integrity of Qatar against external aggression, following Israeli airstrikes on Doha on September 9, which targeted senior Hamas leadership.

The unprecedented Israeli military operation resulted in the deaths of five low-ranking Hamas members, along with a Qatari security employee.

The attack was widely condemned internationally, and on September 29, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued an official apology to Qatar for the killing of one of its citizens.

In a joint call with Trump at the White House, Netanyahu conveyed his apologies to the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

Trump's order underscores the long-standing cooperation and alliance between Washington and Doha. /CNA
