The German Minister of Finance, Christian Lindner, said that Germany will continue to support Ukraine, as a shield against the intentions of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

"We are supporting Ukraine, because it is the front line of Ukraine,


our defense against Putin", said Lindner.

Through the invasion of Ukraine, which he launched in 2022, Putin wants to "attack all of us and our way of life," Lindner said.

Putin doesn't just want to wipe Ukraine off the map, he wants to tear Europe and NATO apart and make sure the United States leaves Europe, he says.

"Putin's target is not Ukraine. Putin's goal is to be able to exercise power over us. He should never succeed in this," the German minister emphasized.

For this reason, he said, Germany must definitely improve its defense capabilities to protect itself and its allies.

The special fund set up to modernize the German military after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in 2022 will be used within a few years, he said.

The Armed Forces must then be updated by funds and rules. But, this will not be possible with a limited budget and the growing debt, he warned.

"The task that awaits us to protect peace and freedom in Germany, Europe and the world is not limited to just a few years. Maybe it is a task that lasts for decades or generations", said Lindner.
