Tornadoes hit the US, causing great damage

Dozens of tornadoes hit the central United States on Friday night, damaging homes and buildings and injuring several people, authorities said.

More than 70 tornadoes were recorded across the country by the US National Weather Service, most of them around Omaha, Nebraska.

As of Friday night, there were reports of several injuries, but no deaths.

Three people were injured in Lancaster County, Nebraska, when a tornado struck an industrial building, knocking off its roof while 70 people were inside. Some of them were stuck, but in the end all were evacuated and the injured are out of danger, the authorities said.

"Emergency crews are checking damaged homes and assisting with injured citizens," Omaha Police said on the X social network.

Footage posted on social media showed the small town of Minden, Iowa, heavily damaged by tornadoes.

About 11,000 homes were without power in Nebraska, according to authorities.

The National Weather Service issued multiple tornado warnings for several US states on Friday, warning them that strong storms would continue into Saturday.
