Pope Leo XIV to move to a renovated suite in the Apostolic Palace

Nearly nine months after his election to the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV is finally moving into residence. But he won't be residing in the traditional papal apartment that has housed most modern popes since 1870.

Instead, Pope Leo will live in a suite created above the papal apartment, formed by space for staff and guests and equipped with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, a small chapel and a fitness area.

For security reasons, the bedroom will not face St. Peter's Square, as is the tradition of papal apartments, but in an area above the Vatican Bank.

The pope's brother, John Prevost, said Leo is installing fitness equipment and preparing his own dinner, so his lifestyle rule requires a good kitchen. /CNA
