The Norwegian authorities have decided to fine the owner of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg 89,630 euros per day for violating privacy. The administrative measure will begin on August 14, the Norwegian data protection agency announced on Tuesday, Reuters reports.
"From next Monday, a daily fine of one million kroner will be applied," Tobias Yudin, head of Datatilsinet's international department, told Reuters.
According to him, the sentence will be applied until November 3.
Norwegian regulator Datatilsinet warned on July 17 that the US company would be fined if it did not address privacy violations highlighted by the regulator. Datatilsinet's announcement states, among other things, that Meta cannot collect user data, such as their physical location, and then use it for personalized advertising.
The Meta company had until August 4 to provide the regulator with evidence that it was committed to solving the problem.
The Meta company did not immediately respond to a request for comment on this fine imposed by the competent Norwegian institutions.
