The warning of the Greek minister on the Beleri case: If he is dismissed,
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Gerapetritis

The Foreign Minister of Greece, Georgos Gerapetritis, has stated categorically that the Albanian authorities, with their attitude towards the elected head of Himara Municipality, Fredi Beleri, are scoring an "own goal". 

"With the way it works, the Albanian side is likely to shoot itself in the foot", the minister pointed out in an interview for ERT.

Gerapetritis warned that Beler's dismissal from his position would mean a serious deterioration of Greek-Albanian relations. 

The Greek diplomat underlined that there is no possibility for Albania's membership in the EU to continue, when there is a violation of Fredi Beleri's right and presumption of innocence. He further emphasized that the created tension is not at all beneficial for the neighboring country.

A few days ago, SPAK sent Fredi Beleri to trial, who accuses him of buying votes in the May 14 local elections. CNA
