A man has been shot and killed after entering the perimeter of US President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort. According to Secret Service officials, the victim was inside the secure perimeter of Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort.

Investigations are continuing to fully uncover the incident and other information about the suspect. Meanwhile, American media have reported that Trump was in Washington at the time of the incident.

Security at the property is extremely tight, with an external cordon of local Palm Beach sheriffs and an internal one coordinated by the Secret Service. Visitors and their cars and bags are checked by dogs and metal detectors.

Even when Trump and his personal security team are not at home, security is at a premium. Regular clients at Mar-a-Lago include prominent Republican figures and wealthy business leaders. /CNA
