One of the strangest and most popular tourist attractions in the United States of America is looking for a new owner.

The small town of "Hell" in Michigan, known for its satirical and "devilish" themes, is for sale for $625,000, or around 539,000 euros.

The property spans about seven acres and includes a number of unique businesses and attractions, such as The Crematory ice cream shop, a devil-themed mini-golf course, and a wedding chapel that attracts visitors from all over the country.

The current owner, 80-year-old John Colone, has decided to leave after more than 25 years in the area. He has managed “Hell” since 1998, transforming it into an especially popular destination for tourists looking for a different experience.

The history of the small town begins in 1838, while the name "Hell" was officially established a few years later. Despite its name, the area is very attractive to thousands of visitors each year, especially during the winter months, when temperatures drop below zero and "Hell freezes over."

According to the sales ad, the business appears to be profitable, having recorded gross revenues of $327,000 in 2024. Hell is located about 20 miles northwest of Ann Arbor, one of Michigan's largest cities.

The state's official tourism website describes "Hell" as "a quirky destination known for its devilish humor and lively attractions," attracting travelers who want to be able to say "they went to Hell and came back." /CNA
