Cold weather in Florida/ NASA postpones first crewed flight to the Moon

NASA has decided to postpone the first manned flight to the Moon due to extremely cold temperatures expected at the launch site in Cape Canaveral, Florida. This situation brings the new target launch date about two days later than originally planned.

Planned operations, including a rocket fueling test, were canceled due to expected weather conditions. This rise in near-freezing temperatures has forced NASA to revise the launch schedule and set a new possible launch window for February 8.

According to officials, any further delay will directly impact the mission's schedules, pushing everything back a day if weather conditions do not improve.

The Orion capsule's equipment is being kept warm with heaters, while the rocket's systems are adapting to the low temperatures to ensure proper operation.

This mission, called Artemis II, is a historic step for NASA, as it will be the first crewed flight to the Moon since the Apollo program in 1972. /CNA
