LVV receives over 72 percent of votes from the Diaspora

The Counting and Results Center has completed the counting of more than 27,000 votes sent by mail for the December 28 elections by citizens living outside Kosovo.

According to the results published on the Central Election Commission's website, the Vetëvendosje Movement leads convincingly in terms of postal votes, receiving 72.20 percent or 19,344 votes.

However, CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi said that these are not the last ballots from outside Kosovo that will be counted.

Other ballots belonging to the postal vote were withdrawn by the CEC on January 2 and 5, he announced.

"There are about 20,000 packages of ballots withdrawn on January 2 and 5 that are expected to be counted soon," said Elezi.

"But, until their evaluation and verification is done, the CEC is expected to start counting the ballots for conditional voting and ballots for voting by persons with special needs by 20:00," he added. According to the votes counted so far, regarding postal voting, the Democratic League of Kosovo has won 10.15 percent of the votes or 2,720, followed by the Democratic Party of Kosovo with 9.56 percent or 2,560 votes. The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, meanwhile, has won 3.90 percent of the votes or 1,045

In addition to postal votes, conditional votes and those of persons with special needs are expected to be counted. The CEC said that out of 57 conditional polling stations, in 38 municipalities of Kosovo, a total of over 9,900 voters registered to vote conditionaly have been identified in the system, while the number of voters registered in the voting program for persons with special needs was 2,860.

The CEC expects the final results to be announced earlier than planned, namely before January 19.

According to the results summarized so far, LVV has won 50.67 percent, PDK 20.43 percent of the votes, LDK 13.33 percent, AAK 5.52 percent and Serbian List 4.56 percent./ Rel
