Two Russian warships have arrived in the southern Chinese port city of Zhanjiang to take part in joint naval exercises, the Russian Defense Ministry said on July 13.

China and Russia have strengthened their relations since Moscow launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Their common goal is to reduce the role of the United States and the West on the international stage.

"A detachment of ships from the Pacific fleet will take part in joint naval exercises", announced the Russian Ministry through Telegram, where it also published the video of the arrival in China of two Russian warships.

The first phase of the exercises will be held next week, from Monday to Wednesday, when the armies will train for anti-aircraft and anti-submarine attacks. Meanwhile, in this phase of the exercises, maneuvers will also be carried out with Chinese aircraft against naval attacks, it was said in the announcement.

The two states regularly hold joint military exercises, but their level of interaction is far inferior to that of the Western military alliance NATO, said a report by the European Union's Institute for Security Studies, published earlier this year. July.
