At least 500 children have been killed and more than 1,000 injured since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine last February, Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office said on August 13.

Ukrainian officials said these figures are incomplete due to the difficulty of collecting data in areas occupied by Russian forces.

Last month, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights reported that at least 9,396 civilians had been killed. According to this institution, 16,646 others were injured.

Russia continues to carry out airstrikes across Ukrainian cities, although it repeatedly denies that it targets civilian infrastructure, REL reports. Meanwhile, Ukraine is continuing its counteroffensive to expel Russian forces from the occupied territories.
