Kiev reports third mass Russian attack in four days

Ukrainian air defense forces shot down more than 10 Russian drones over Kiev in the early hours of August 29, marking the third major attack in four days on the Ukrainian capital.

"The third air attack in Kiev in the last four days! Mass attack again!", said Serhiy Popko, head of the military administration of Kiev, through a post on Telegram.

He said that the attack was carried out by the occupied Ukrainian parts in the Kherson region, and the Russian region, Kursk.

Popko said that the remains of the downed drones caused fire in some locations, but that was extinguished by the firemen.

No casualties have been reported so far.

Russia has intensified attacks against Ukraine after Ukrainian military forces launched an incursion this month into the Russian border region of Kursk.

Currently, fierce fighting is also reported around the eastern Ukrainian city, Pokrovsk, a strategic city for supplying the Ukrainian army with weapons on the front line.

Russia aims to capture this city to gain more control over the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk.

The war in Ukraine started on February 24, 2022.
