Europol operation in Serbia/ Investigations begin against "call

Europol has announced that police and judicial authorities from Serbia, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Germany, with the support of Europol (European Police Agency) and Eurojust (European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation), have launched an investigation against organized crime groups for internet investment fraud.

Ky rrjet kriminal, i cili përbëhet nga disa grupe të ndryshme kriminale që operojnë përmes qendrave të thirrjeve (“Call center”), ka joshur viktimat, kryesisht nga Gjermania, për të investuar shuma të mëdha parash në skema të rreme të kriptovalutave.

Për këtë arsye, Europoli ka krijuar një Grup punues operues për të mbështetur hetimin ndërkufitar, thuhet në një njoftim të Europolit.

Në kuadër të aksionit janë arrestuar 15 persona, 14 prej tyre në Serbi dhe një në Gjermani, si dhe janë pyetur 261 persona, disa prej të cilëve janë ndjekur penalisht (42 në Bullgari, dy në Qipro, tre në Gjermani dhe 214 në Serbi).

Gjithashtu, janë kontrolluar 22 lokacione (pesë në Bullgari, dy në Qipro, 15 në Serbi) duke përfshirë katër qendra të thirrjeve dhe 11 zyra në Serbi, dy zyra në Qipro, dy kompani dhe tre zyra në Bullgari.

Three online warehouses with about one million dollars in cryptocurrencies and about 50,000 euros in cash, three vehicles, electronic equipment and backup copies of data, as well as documentation, were seized.

It is currently estimated that the financial damage of the German victims is over two million euros, while there are also victims in other countries such as Switzerland, Australia and Canada.

The investigation suggests that the number of unreported cases is much higher, which means that the illegal profits made by criminal groups could be in the hundreds of millions of euros, Europol said./ REL
