Serbian minister's statements on Kosovo/ Ali Ahmeti reacts harshly

The leader of the DUI, Ali Ahmeti, reacted today regarding the statement made about Kosovo by the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government in the Government of Serbia, Snezhana Paunovic.

Through a post on social media, Ahmeti describes it as a shocking, inhumane and unacceptable statement.

Ahmeti expresses in harsh tones that history has given its answer, that the denial or glorification of genocidal policies can have no place in the 21st century.

“The statement of the Serbian minister, who said that, if she were in Slobodan Milosevic’s place, she would have ethnically cleansed Kosovo in 1998, is shocking, inhumane and unacceptable. Such a statement is not only an insult to the victims of the war, but also a reflection of a mentality inspired by the criminal policies of her political mentor, Slobodan Milosevic, who ended up facing international justice for the crimes of his regime.

To talk today about ethnic cleansing as a political alternative, when the world has seen children killed, massacres of innocent civilians, mass graves and countless evidence of crimes committed in Kosovo, is evidence of a dangerous mindset and incompatible with human, democratic and European values. Denial or glorification of genocidal policies can have no place in the 21st century.

But history has given its answer. It was precisely in the face of this criminal mentality that the resistance of the people of Kosovo arose, which was crowned with the Kosovo Liberation Army. Alongside our international allies, the KLA brought freedom and liberation to Kosovo. Those who still dream of ethnic cleansing today should know that ideologies of hatred always end up in the bank of history, while freedom and justice triumph”, writes Ahmeti./ CNA
