The claims of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, that only a part of the wheat exported from Ukraine is reaching the poor countries, are not true, the British Ministry of Defense has said.
Without providing data, Putin said on September 7 that only two of the 87 ships with about 60,000 tons of products went to poor countries.
The agreement between Russia and Ukraine, for the export of wheat from the Ukrainian Black Sea ports, was mediated weeks ago by the United Nations and Turkey.
Together, they export almost 30 percent of the world's wheat supply. Russia exports 17 percent of wheat worldwide, while Ukraine exports about 20 percent of yellow flowers for oils.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
He calls the war a "special military operation" to demilitarize Ukraine.
The West has responded to Russia, hitting the economy of this country with harsh sanctions.
As a result of the war, thousands of people have died and millions more have been displaced from their homes./ REL
