Over 3,000 people lost their lives/ The 21st anniversary of the terrorist attacks in the USA is commemorated today

Today marks 21 years since September 11, 2001, when the worst terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York were carried out.

Four al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four passenger planes and crashed them, killing about 3,000 people.

Two planes hit the Twin Towers in New York, and two more in Virginia and Pennsylvania shortly after.

Ten years after the tragedy, the US military raided the compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, and killed Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

US President Joseph Biden will address the occasion and lay a wreath at the Pentagon, the White House announced.
