Two people were injured by the explosion of a hand grenade in the late hours of Monday in North Mitrovica.

The Deputy Director of Police for the North region, Veton Elshani, told Radio Free Europe that one of the injured is in a more serious state of health and is being treated at the hospital in North Mitrovica. But, according to him, his life is out of danger.

Meanwhile, the other person was slightly injured.

"We have no reason to believe that this case is related to ethnic issues," said Elshani.

The Police said that the incident happened at 11:50 p.m. on January 15, when three people of Serbian nationality - two of whom were injured - came out of a bar in Bishevac in North Mitrovica and when they left, a car approached them and threw a hand grenade at them.

The explosion also damaged seven cars that were nearby, while the security authorities said that they are working to clarify this case.
