The agreement is reached / The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is extended

Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement to extend the temporary ceasefire in Gaza.

The ceasefire was due to end today but the Israeli army has agreed to extend it after efforts by mediators to continue the process of releasing the hostages taken by Hamas.

The mediator of Qatar has announced that the negotiations between Hamas and Israel will continue for another day.

The terms of the cease-fire, which includes a halt to hostilities and the admission of humanitarian aid, remain the same, Qatar says.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in Tel Aviv as part of efforts to extend the ceasefire.

Last night, 16 more hostages taken by Hamas, as well as 30 Palestinians, were released.
