Gent Sejko, Governor of the Bank of Albania in a press conference spoke about the work done by the Bank of Albania.

He said that thanks to the cooperation in 2023, a number of achievements have been recorded.

Sejko announced that 70 percent of the population has a bank account and that with the increase in transactions in euros, the government has saved millions of euros.

He also spoke about the role of fulfilling the requirements of the Albanian Bank in Albania's EU membership.

"We have coordinated the work for the growth of cooperation with international companies. We have brought modern systems closer to making payments. Year 2023 achievements are noted in the last remaining measures in the action plan. This law is a reality and is expected to influence further financial expansion. 70 percent of the population has a bank account. Transactions in euros have increased by about 40 percent. 22 million euros have been saved for the Albanian government. SEPA membership. The payment system has been adjusted. There was efficient administration. 2023 one of the years with the highest return of the reserve. We will further develop the monetary and financial markets. The Bank of Albania has played a key role in compliance with the EU. we will contribute responsibly in the future as well. The Bank of Albania will fulfill its quality." , said Sejko./ CNA
