Democratic Party spokesperson Elida Lici has accused Shkodra Mayor Benet Beci of corruption.

In a statement to the media, Lici stressed that the Shkodra municipality has turned into a favor office for Benet Beci's clients.

Lici denounces the latest tender opened by the Shkodra municipality for "Maintenance of green and water surfaces", as it is a corrupt scheme.

Not only that, she calls on the Prosecution to immediately launch an investigation into the Shkodra Municipality for this tender and other tenders, as according to her, the money received will be used in the May 11 elections.

"The Municipality of Shkodra has turned into a favor office for Benet Beci's clients. Through the latest corrupt greenery tender, Shkodra taxpayers will pay 1 billion old lek to a private company for the removal of 40 trees and 100 decorative shrubs."

This is the beginning of the year gift that Benet Beci gives to the people of Shkodra, favoring his clients and those of Rilindja, while the citizens of Shkodra pay the bill.

The Municipality of Shkodra at the end of last year opened the tender for "Maintenance of green and water surfaces" financed by the Municipality Budget with a fund limit of 106 million 247 thousand 112.

Two other companies with more economical offers were also submitted to the tender competition, but the Shkodra Municipality commission, guided by Benet Beci, once again favored the highest offer, eliminating the other two and choosing its client and the new one.

Open Data Albania has assessed the tender with a "Red Flag" to indicate the risk of corruption.

Benet Beci, as a political delegate of the Renaissance through corrupt tenders and favoritism of his clients and his party, is aiming to repeat what he did in 2023, using corruption money in the elections.

The Democratic Party calls on the prosecution and other law enforcement bodies to immediately launch an investigation into the Municipality of Shkodra for this tender and other tenders that are clearly corrupt and that the money obtained will be used in the May 11 elections.

On May 11, Shkodra and all of Albania will give the deserved response to this government that in 12 years has only sown crime and corruption, increasing insecurity and poverty and massively depopulating the country! /CNA
