CNA has denounced the scandals in which the Albanian Public Radio Television has been continuously involved.

A few days ago, CNA published for the first time a contract between the director of RTSH, Alfred Peza, and Leka Bungo, who has returned to the role of screenwriter of the show "Gezura", a television program on the Albanian Public Radio and Television.

The document clearly shows that there are millions of lek and a clear conflict of interest in money provided from Albanian taxpayer funds and the RTSH budget for the program.

Leka Bungo, in violation of the law

The General Director of RTSH, Aurora Polo, has admitted that the chairman of the Steering Council has committed violations.

In the response from director Aurora Polo to CNA, she highlights something very important, which actually reveals the scandal and violation of Leka Bungo, the chairman of the RTSH Steering Council.

The director has affirmed what is actually stated in the RTSH statute, that members of the RTSH Steering Council or the Council's chairman, Leka Bungo, cannot receive funds.

"Referring to decision no. 3 dated 9.1.2024 of the Steering Council, only the directors of the RTSH who are elected by the Steering Council are exempt from paying royalties for engagements in film and artistic projects of the RTSH," emphasizes director Aurora Polo for CNA.

The RTSH Statute also prohibits members of the Board of Directors from receiving funds.

So, at no point is it stated that the Chairman of the Board of Directors can receive money for his role as a screenwriter in television programs.

This is a violation committed by the chairman of the RTSH Steering Council, Leka Bungo, and the managers of this television station.

Leka Bungo is in an open conflict of interest because as chairman of the RTSH Steering Council he cannot receive funds and consequently neither can the members of this Council.

The scandal lies in the fact that Leka Bungo himself votes, approves projects and then takes the money for television programs for himself by appearing as a screenwriter.

The relevant institutions must uncover the truth because the problem in this case is not only Leka Bungo who violates the law and takes the funds, but also the leaders of the institutions commit violations./ CNA
