Journalist Ola Xama has denounced this evening on social networks the connections in conflict of interest of the family members of the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

Xama has stated that Ajola Xoxa, Veliaj's wife, has benefited 44.4 thousand euros from the Harabel Center and from Balkan Youth Link Albania (BYL-A).

She has denounced that these companies are sponsored in most of their exhibitions and events by the Tirana Municipality and by institutions under the Tirana Municipality.

According to her, "Harabel" also received payments from the Ministry of Culture.

The journalist emphasized that Ajola Xoxa is paid by NGOs that are supported by the City Hall of the capital, where her husband is the leader.

Denunciation:

The wife of the mayor of Tirana, Ajola Xoxa, turns out to be employed and paid by the Harabel Center and the Balkan Youth Link Albania project. According to what he declared himself in the annual declaration of wealth and private interests for 2023, Xoxa has benefited 44.4 thousand euros from these two associations.

Today in Kronos we have published the list of events where the Harabel Center, which employs Ms. Xoxa as Creative Director and the Balkan Youth Link Albania project, have been sponsored in the vast majority of their exhibitions and events by the Municipality of Tirana, the "Tirana Capital of Youth" project ” and the Creative Industry Agency, these last two are dependent institutions of the Municipality of Tirana. So the scheme is clear, Xoxa is paid by NGOs that are supported by the municipality of the capital and where her husband is the leader!

According to the data of the state treasury, the Ministry of Culture has made 7 direct payments to the Harabel Center in the amount of 39 thousand euros, to sponsor the exhibition "Divine Comedy", the project "Antiquity in contemporary Albanian art" and the International Exhibition of Fine Arts. Zabel".

For the year 2023, Mrs. Xoxa declared an asset in a bank account in the amount of 617 thousand euros, where 97 thousand euros were added only during the last year and the source was her work in the 2 private companies she owns and payments as a curator from Harabel and Balkan Youth Albania./ CNA
