Murder of Ardian Nikulaj/ Lezha Court announces sentence for Portuguese, Ruben

The Lezha Court has sentenced Portuguese citizen Ruben Saraiva, accused of being the executor of businessman Ardian Nikulaj, who was murdered on April 19, 2023, to life imprisonment.

The Lezha prosecution requested a life sentence for Saraiva on March 3, while the defendant has consistently denied any involvement in the events. 

We recall that the murder of Ardian Nikulaj occurred in April 2023. He was in his bar when the hired killer entered the bar and emptied his pistol, leaving him lifeless at the scene. Ruben Saraiva was arrested in Morocco on May 8, 2023 on behalf of the Albanian authorities and was extradited to our country on December 31 of that year.

The rest of the criminal group, Edmond Haxhia, Stephen Hunt, Thomas Mithan, Harriet Bridgeman and Harry Simson, have also been arrested in Great Britain for the murder of Ardian Nikulaj, for whom there is still no extradition decision to Albania.

The main clue to the murder of businessman Ardian Nikulaj is that of revenge between the Nikulaj and Lekstakaj clans that began many years ago. According to investigators, the organizer of the assassination was Edmond Haxhia; Ruben Saraiva in the role of the executor, while the others in the role of assistants.  /CNA
